The Drama Film Festival, dates as far back as 1995. Being that I come from Drama, I felt at some point that I had to participate with a short animated movie titled: the Escape. Ok, now that's out of the way, here is the longer version on how I got here:

I was born in Thessaloniki (in sunny Greece) in 1981. My family moved in Drama city some 150Km away due to my father's career opportunities.

So, Drama, the place I grew up in, is an ideal place to grow up naturally, breathing clean air, and playing without much danger in the nature. A rural place of extreme natural beauty. A good inspiration start by all means.

At age 13 I started to transfer my drawings from the papers to the walls (graffiti) and after the high school I moved to Thessaloniki (Greece) to attend a graphic design school. However that did not meet my expectations so I decided to search for a higher education outside of Greece.

Therefore the following year I moved to Milan, in Italy, pursuing my desire to improve my skills and to live new adventures.

After 5 years I graduated from Instituto Europeo di Design (Milan) completing my studies in art direction in advertising. This experience helped me develop a variety of skills in the optical communication and appealing design. It was also a good chance for me to meet a lot of good friends too.

Upon my return to Greece, I started working with various local studios and clients for the next 4 years. Most of the work was freelance, based on my skills in graphic design and art direction.

Over the years, however, motion graphics and 3d animation begun drawing my attention more and more. So, in 2009, as an initial attempt, I participated in the Drama International short film festival with a short animated movie (The Escape). After that, I have done a fair amount of freelance work with some advertising agencies, doing small clips for television and advertising. It was then I realized that this was my dream and even better it did not seem so far anymore.

With this in mind I joined the Animation Mentor online school in 2011 and set my next target to really take on the education on the character animation, as this seemed the most complex and hard department in the feature animation industry. Plus this is what I enjoyed doing most.

The next 2 years were spent exploring and learning what animation is all about, from the basic fundamentals of animation to the body mechanics to the acting and the story telling. I felt really mesmerized of the magical world of character animation and isolated from everything set the only goal in my mind, to become the best animator I could.

Around the same time (mid 2011) and while on the online course already, I moved in Serbia to work on a feature film that featured half live action scenes and half animation scenes. For 6 months I was lucky to work in between 25 professionals in different areas, such as lighting, modeling, programming, etc. It was a very nice experience but the movie went out of budget so the work was brought to a standstill. Hence I moved back in Greece and completed my course.

After my graduation in December 2012, I wanted to test my skills by participating in a online competition (11secondclub.com) for character animation and combining the art director studies with the character animation studies. I managed to get the 24th place out of 260 participants from all the world.

Somewhere in the middle of 2012, I started freelancing using online platforms, working on custom Illustration / Animation projects by request and as I a result, I built and developed a customer base. Numerous 3d animated video projects, on various interesting subjects were being made this period. In the meantime I created and developed 2 online graphic design Shops selling instant download graphics. However that did not meet my expectation one more time. So, I decided to follow my quest for inspiration, moving in london to get into the animation Industry.

So this is how I got where I am at the moment. In general, I consider myself to be a passionate person that enjoys the small things in life. I always go after what I set my heart on and was never afraid of the hard work that usually is required to get there.

Inspiration is everywhere around us. In the beautiful mountains or the seas that surrounds us, in the music and colors, the shapes and forms etc. Sometimes, all you have to do is close your eyes and ears to see and hear clearly.
